But, what about your chest?
Anyone can be affected by acne including teens who are undergoing puberty. And there are a lot of factors that come into play, like stress, medications, and genetics.
Wearing that revealing top certainly isn’t an option if you have chest acne.

Chest acne isn’t as obvious as facial acne, but it’s equally as annoying.
So today, I present 6 chest acne remedies to either treat or prevent it to get your confidence back.
1. Take a Bath Regularly
The first one on our list of chest acne remedies seems like a preventative measure. However, it can also be used to treat this condition.
Chest acne is caused by elements that cause clogged pores like dirt, oil, and dead skin cells. By showering regularly, these elements will be removed and will prevent acne from getting worse.
When dealing with chest acne, make sure to bathe with products that fight acne.
How to use:
Body washes that contain salicylic acid are a good option since they work by drying pimples out. Avoid conventional soaps as these contain harsh chemicals that irritate the skin and can make acne worse.
Make sure to take a bath even in cold, winter months. Since we don’t sweat during this period, we often think it’s ok not to hit the shower.
And though relaxing, avoid hot showers to avoid drying your skin out. Tepid water should be used for optimum results.
2. Try Exfoliating at Least Once Per Week
Our skin undergoes a process called cell turnover wherein dead skin cells are being replaced by new skin cells. This process is key to getting soft and supple skin.
But, there is one problem. They don’t always shed by themselves.
This is why you need to exfoliate. Regular exfoliation sloughs off dead skin cells to prevent them from clogging the pores and eventually, cause acne.
Make sure to choose an exfoliator based on your skin type.
How to use:
If you’re more into natural remedies, baking soda is a popular choice. Make a scrub either by adding a few teaspoons to your cleanser or using it on its own.
Honestly, it’s all up to you.
Limit it to only once a week as anything more will only irritate blemishes that already exist.
Also, avoid scrubbing or rubbing too hard as this can dry your skin out. Scrubbing too much can cause cracking, irritation, and skin dryness, and can make it easier for bacteria to enter the skin.
3. Use OTC Medications
These treatments help by minimizing acne to make it less prominent. They also fight bacteria that cause acne to make them go away for good.
As mentioned earlier, salicylic acid is a popular ingredient for fighting acne. Benzoyl peroxide helps, too, but the former is preferred since benzoyl peroxide is known to stain clothes.
How to use:
Make sure you have showered and cleansed your body completely. And then, apply a small amount of medication to affected areas.
Although uncommon, discontinue use if you’ve experienced any swelling or rashes. Also, never apply salicylic acid in larger doses or use it for an extended period of time.
Doing so will only increase the risk of side effects, not clear acne any faster.
Furthermore, do perform a sensitivity patch test to check how your skin reacts to the product. You can do this by applying a small amount to a small portion of skin, and wait for at least 24 hours for any negative reaction.
4. Change Your Laundry Powder
Keeping our clothes clean is one of the best acne chest remedies. But in some cases, our detergents can be the culprit as to why those zits appear in the first place.
You see, most detergents today are loaded with chemicals that irritate the skin like synthetic dyes and fragrances.
These products read “hypoallergenic” on their label. Because they’re gentle on sensitive skin, they’re safe for your baby’s delicate skin as well.
5. Avoid Tight and Ill-Fitting Clothing
This tip is perhaps another obvious one.
The key here is to wear loose clothing to allow your skin to breathe. Wearing tight clothes will only trap oil, bacteria, and dirt which will later lead to blemishes.
How to use:
Opt for fabrics made of cotton. Avoid spandex, nylon, and wool, as these can irritate the skin even more.
The same thing goes for what you do after working out.
Immediately take a shower after working out to prevent the sweat from clogging your pores. If this can’t be done, wipe the sweat off using a towel as quickly as possible.
Just make sure the towel is clean and fresh to stop the germs from spreading.
6. Use a Fenugreek Paste
Alas, a natural home remedy.
Fenugreek boasts of its anti-inflammatory property. It helps relieve any swelling both inside and outside the body, making it great for redness and inflammation caused by acne.
It is antimicrobial, too, to fight acne-causing bacteria.
And since it is rich in antioxidants, it protects the skin from free radicals. It also helps reduce the signs of aging by softening fine lines and wrinkles.
How to use:
Grab a few fenugreek leaves and blend it until you get a smooth consistency. After cleaning the chest area, apply the paste to affected areas and wait for 15 minutes before washing it off.
Alternately, you can create a paste by mixing a few drops of water with some ground fenugreek seeds.
Simply apply to acne-prone areas and wash it off once it dries.
Chest acne may be easy to conceal, but that doesn’t make it less painful or uncomfortable.
And besides, layering it with clothing can only make the problem worse. Also, covering it with makeup will inevitably lead to clogged pores.
