1. Use a Mouthwash Treatment
If it kills bacteria living in the mouth, what difference will it make when applied on the face?
Alcohol is one of the main ingredients in all mouthwashes. This ingredient works by drying your pimples to reduce their size and minimize any redness.
Some contain antibiotics to help kill acne-causing bacteria. They also have methyl salicylate which is an anti-inflammatory agent to help tone down those angry zits.
Here comes the fun part.

You’ll only need a cotton ball and of course, a mouthwash, for this method.
Simply moisten a cotton ball with enough mouthwash and apply it on problem areas. Wait until it dries before washing it off.
This method is generally safe. I just don’t recommend it if you have sensitive skin as this needs to be used undiluted and it may be too strong for you.
2. Dab Some Coconut Water
This sweet and fat-free drink is considered one of the healthiest drinks out there. But aside from its health benefits, did you know it’s great for the skin, too?
It is loaded with antioxidants to protect the skin from free radicals. It also contains Vitamin C to fight the signs of aging by softening fine lines and wrinkles.
Lauric acid is another key nutrient in coconut water. A 2009 study shows that its antimicrobial property is 15 times more powerful than that of benzoyl peroxide.
It effectively decreases the number of the P. acnes bacteria living on the skin. This is why some see Lauric acid as a great alternative for treating acne vulgaris.
How to use:
Dip a cotton ball in a bowl containing coconut water. Apply it all over the face and allow it to sit overnight before rinsing it off.
It is also safe for all skin types.
An added bonus is its moisturizing ability. So, dry skin will surely regain its softness and suppleness when choosing this method.
3. Take Fish Oil Pills
Things are starting to get fishy. Literally.
Taking fish oil is great for you because it is rich in Omega-3. This fatty acid helps balance your hormones to prevent them from going crazy and eventually, cause acne.
To be more specific, it brings down your androgen levels.
Too much androgen triggers oil production, making you prone to breakouts and clogged pores. So, it makes sense to decrease its level to prevent those unfortunate things from happening.
But, this is where things start getting ironic.
Fish oil is also one of the causes of acne. While it also has anti-inflammatory properties, its effect is determined by the amount of Omega-3 and Omega-6 in your body.
Think of Omega-6 as the complete opposite of Omega-3. If Omega-3 is an anti-inflammatory agent, Omega-6 can actually trigger your body’s inflammatory responses.
So, the answer here is finding the right balance. You can maximize the effect of taking fish oil supplements together with foods rich in Omega-6 like grapeseed, sunflower, and corn oils.

Simply follow the instructions written on the label or use it according to your doctor’s prescription.
You can also up its effectiveness by applying the oil directly to your skin.
Just get a capsule and cut it open using a pair of scissors. Collect the oil on your fingertips and spread it on acne-prone areas.
It will obviously have a fishy smell but it’ll go away after some time.
4. Apply a Bit of Papaya Juice
This is a treat for someone like me who’s fond of papayas.
Papaya is one of those foods with a high Vitamin C content. It has an enzyme called papain to allow our digestive system to function better.
A healthy gut = clear skin.
As for the skin, papayas are beneficial because they have high levels of fiber. It helps get rid of any yeasts and fungi in the body which can lead to skin conditions like acne or rashes.
How to use:
Grab a sliced papaya and put it in a food processor. Blend it thoroughly until it gets watery.
Transfer contents to a small bowl. Then, dip a small cotton ball into the papaya juice and apply it on areas where you have zits.
Wait for 15 minutes before washing it off.
Alternatively, you can make a mask from it using the flesh and some honey. Simply mix small amounts of papaya flesh and honey in a small bowl until you create a paste.
Using circular motions, carefully apply the mixture all over your face. Be extra careful as papaya chunks may scatter all over the place.
Let it dry for a couple of minutes before rinsing it off.
But, why use honey?
Honey is a great addition to this mask since it has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It is also an excellent moisturizer perfect for those with rough, scaly skin.
Going to your dermatologist isn’t the only way to rid of those zits overnight.
